Marcus East

Marcus East is the executive vice president and chief digital officer at T-Mobile, leading a talented team of designers, digital marketers, engineers, product specialists, and technologists with the mantra of “technology in the service of people.” Marcus and the Digital team create experiences that allow T-Mobile customers to seamlessly manage and enjoy their relationship with the company, removing friction in the pursuit of the goal to simplify and digitalize—one of the Un-carrier’s top priorities.

Marcus brings a wealth of experience from tech companies like Apple, Google, and IBM, as well as major consumer brands like Marks and Spencer and National Geographic. He joined T-Mobile from Google, where he was technical director in Google Cloud’s Office of the CTO, helping its largest enterprise customers harness the power of digital transformation. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president and chief technology officer at National Geographic.

Marcus spent one-half of his career building world-class technology for top technology companies—Apple, Google, and IBM. The other half has been spent helping brands such as Comic Relief, Marks and Spencer, National Geographic, and now T-Mobile harness the power of technology to drive business value. He is also a director for Signal Hill Acquisition Corp., a non-executive director for Oxford Cancer Analytics, and a non-executive director for WillowTree.

Marcus attended the Latymer Grammar School in London and subsequently read for an honors degree at the London Metropolitan University, majoring in Management & Information Technology. He also earned a master’s in Management from the University of Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society Chartered Institute for IT.

Marcus was born and raised in London and today lives in the Seattle area with his wife, their dog Bella and cat Cesaré. He enjoys soccer (especially Arsenal FC), building computers, video gaming, investigating tech for social good, science fiction, and traveling to unusual places around the world.
